DAY 2: Arrival & Opening Ceremony in Nantangalan Elementary School

Since it's only Day 2, we can barely keep in our excitement as we load up our luggages on the bus (after our big breakfast at Jollibee) and make our way to Nantangalan Elementary School; a place we will call home for 6 days~

Totally clueless to what may come, we finally arrived! With the teachers and students coming forth to welcome us, I felt a sense of belonging immediately as I set foot there. The school had prepared a huge banner on stage, coupled with various performances to welcome us.

This was when I uncovered one of the many beauties of the Philippines culture -- Dancing!

The teachers placed special effort to learn and perform song signing specially for us and our fellow deaf campers! It was really touching to hear that from Teacher Rose and Teacher Ruth!
A few of us went on stage to dance along with the teachers!

Nantangalan Elementary School staff, teachers and students: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING US THESE UNFORGETTABLE PERFORMANCES. :)

It was an unique experience to be able to give attention to the Philippines', Pozzorubio's and Nantangalan's anthem alongside our fellow filipino friends!

Our very first lunch experience in the school was also interesting and an unfamiliar one to many in Singapore. We watched as the school staff laid out banana leaves on the table, slowly topping up with rice, beehoon, mango with shrimp sauce and chicken feet! What a feast for the gluttony us! :P I enjoyed the meal especially the mango (a must-try in The Philippines!!) with shrimp sauce! We also used our hands to completely indulge in a truly foodie experience...
Lastly, we called it a day after we interacted with the kids and....
 .... caught a breathtaking sight :) A DOUBLE RAINBOW!
Ps: Lightning bolts are not photoshopped in!

Till then!

Signing off,
Jaime
