COR'16 FIRST OUTING : SUNDAY BY THE BAY

Hello peeps! :)

On the past 18th October 2015, our newly formed COR'15 committee had a fun-filled outing at the Gardens by the Bay! It was our very first outing with the Deaf community in 2015!

As quite many of us were meeting the Deaf for the first time, it started out with slight awkwardness. We were quite nervous to introduce ourselves to a big group through signing!
Practicing signs beforehand

Thankfully after having a quick ice breaking session, everyone managed to step out of their comfort zones and used their newly learnt signs to communicate with the Deaf participants.

Introducing ourselves to new Deaf friends!
Ice breaking game 1 : Knowing each other's sign names

Ice breaking game 2 : Getting each other's signature in specific boxes

Despite having hazy weather for the day, each and every one of us still actively involved in the awesome games planned by our wonderful Chief Group Leaders.

All the props for our big variety of games!

First, we had some mini games to warm up.

Let the signing competition begins!
Who can sign faster?

The last game before lunch! We were required to form a star with a long string - by not using any hands!
After having a scrumptious lunch at Texas Chicken, we proceeded to one of the highlights of the day - the amazing race, which was inspired by the ever-popular Korean game show - Running Man.

Teamwork to win the race

Also, we enjoyed playing frisbee, IQ games and Pop Your Balloon games! Everyone was pretty competitive and we totally had a blast!

Solving IQ questions together - they were really tricky!
It was really nice to see such strong teamwork and enthusiasm in each teams, especially during the frisbee game. Laughter erupted everywhere!

Our Chairperson, Stephanie was having a good time!

Through the games, our teamwork has forged new friendships between COR committee and the Deaf community. In fact, all Deaf participants were very, very patient in signing with us and taught us how to sign new words. Hence, we were able to communicate with them while learning new signs and having a fun bonding session.

Great to see big smiles everywhere!

We can feel that the air is filled with happiness and budding new friendships. At around 5pm, we ended our first outing with dinner at Satay by the Bay with some of Deaf friends.

Thank you joining our Camp OutReach’16 first outing! Can't wait for our next outing in the future so that we can relive such wonderful moments again!

Hope to see you guys soon! :D
