Post-Camp 2015: All good things come to an end

And so, the time comes where where we hang up our hats, for one last hurrah as COR'15.

At 9am on a sunny Sunday morning, we gathered at Bugis MRT station in our group shirts, awaiting the start of the day's programme. Alas, because we had to wait for everyone to arrive, we sat there chit-chatting until about 10am before Pei Yu and Stephanie came and briefed us on our first activity -- a Food Hunt!

Some of the first few members who arrived at our meeting point!

Peiyu and Steph giving us our first mission of the day.
We immediately split into our respective groups (Hulk, Spiderman, Wolverine and Captain America!), and went on a mission to look for our clues, which were hidden all around Bugis Junction's 3rd and 4th floors. The clues were definitely not easy to find, as we had no hint as to how they looked like or what item we were looking for! Peiyu and Steph definitely knew how to hide the clues really, really well. We spent so much time looking high and low for the clues but eventually, by cooperating with each other's groups, all the clues were found.

Spiderman's Patrick found Captain America's clue!! Wonder if he decided to hide it for himself, or gave it to the Captain America members...
Our first clue led us to this complicated puzzle
However, just as we thought the hard part of finding the clues were over, an even tougher puzzle awaits us in the form of numbers! We were to figure out how the numbers led to the first food we were to eat! After alot of begging for hints from PY and Steph, we finally figured out that, by multiplying the numbers all by 2, we would form the word....... P-R-A-T-A. Our first mission was to find a diner within walking distance selling prata and take a photo of us eating it. Coupled with eating prata, however, was another sub-mission we had to complete before obtaining our next mission. We were to find 2 random strangers off the street, and teach them how to sign "Happy Birthday to you". The purpose of this activity was to raise Deaf awareness! Truly a meaningful mission indeed. However, it was not easy at all to find strangers to sign with us! We had to face countless rejections and embarassment on the streets before successfully filming their signing down.

Wolverine and Captain America with their roll-shaped... Prata..?
Upon completing this mission, we received a second clue, which revealed the word "Rainbow". Guess what our next food item was? THATS RIGHT, Rainbow Cake! What a treat!! All the groups went down to I am Cafe at Haji Lane for our Rainbow Cake fix, and what a large rainbow cake they sold indeed! Apart from eating rainbow cake, the accompanying sub-mission was to find a stranger with all 7 colours of the rainbow on them, and get them to sign and fingerspell "Rainbow" together with us.

Spiderman with their giant Rainbow cake, more than enough to go around!
Having a gigantic Rainbow cake all to the 3 of themselves!!! Shiok sia!

Finally, our last clue led us to "You Tiao" (Chinese fried dough fritters), and a mission to find 2 strangers to teach them how to fingerspell their names. However, due to time constraints, we were to abort this mission and report to bugis+ to find Peiyu and Steph. There, we were given some time to practice song signing our favourite song, "Home", as a tribute to Singapore's 50th birthday. Afterwhich, we formed a semi-circle in front of bugis+'s entrance and signed a verse of the song. Happy Birthday Singapore! Upon completion of the song signing, we were then to head all the way to the Far West known as NTU.

After a 1.5h journey to Pulau NTU's field, we were in for a shock -- A WET AND DIRTY GAME!!! Packets of flour and pails had been laid out in front of us, and we were to make bombs filled with flour and water. All of us were groaning and complaining about the dirty game, and decided to form a pact amongst our groups; we promised not to use water, and to only use flour in our bombs! That way, we wont be too dirty, hehe!

Surprising us with our dirty mission!

An epic flour battle between all 4 groups!

However, all expectations of not getting down and dirty dissolve, when Pei Yu and Stephanie flagged the game off! Everyone went insane with their flour bombs, exploding them onto their opponents freely and with gusto. Despite the aim of the game being to dirty the cloth of opposing groups, we soon got lost amidst the fun and excitement of it all, and simply attacked one another, even those from the same group! No one was allowed to leave the battlefield totally clean, and soon, a secret plan was concocted to flour Steph, who had been quietly hiding behind our bags, and claiming to "look after them". Pretending that we got flour into our eyes and needed her help, we lured her out of hiding and into the flour! SUCCESS!!! Everyone was covered from head to toe in white, and had to wash up quickly at the NIE washrooms before the next segment began.

All our white and dirty but satisfied faces.

After all the shouting and having fun, we then assembled at the WSC meeting room for a more serious event -- a farewell ceremony. An appreciation video for the HIs, made by the fabulours PnP team was screened, and it very nearly brought tears to our eyes with their good build-up of emotions and flashbacks. Thinking that the video was the only thing that was going to happen, we all packed up and was about to leave, when, the HI volunteers had a surprise announcement! Turns out, that all of them had come together to make us a thank you gift as well! A mini prize presentation ceremony was held, with lots of laughter and hugs.

The pretty clips that were presented to the COR members, and made from scratch by some of the Deaf participants!

And of course, after long day, we got to chill by the serene pond of Crescent Hall in NTU. A BBQ was fired, and amidst the delicious chicken wings and grilled fish, all of us had a good time chatting with one another, catching up and saying good byes. Today was truly a good ending to our long, tiring but fulfilling COR'15 journey.

Celebrating the August and July babies' birthdays! Happy Birthday Shimei, Jia Yi and Patrick!
