I have no prior experience in interacting with the Deaf Community. At first, I have absolutely no idea of the existence of welfare services club, let alone what camp outreach is about, hence it has never crossed my mind to join such an organization. It was through my friends that I got to know WSC. I feel really grateful to be part of the COR family as it allows me to know many like-minded individuals who enjoys volunteering and making a difference to other people’s lives and the vast opportunities in learning and growing as a business manager in the committee. I have also enjoyed myself tremendously in the basic sign languages courses that we had attended and I believe that such regular gatherings had forged closer bonds among the main-commers. The expedition to Bintan in June is something that I really look forward to. Hopefully, I can get to learn more about the HI community and make friends with these wonderful people! :D

I enjoy doing community work and trying new outdoor events. I have been to a series of adventure camps such as OBS, overseas expedition trips and etc, but Camp Outreach is going to be alot more meaningful. To me, it is a combination of both- doing community work in the outdoor. It is also an opportunity for me to get to know more people and learn more about the Deaf Society, their language and their culture. I am also excited about the friendships that will be forged during the "hardship" during the camp.

We want to plan something that's meaningful, fun and exciting for our hearing-impaired friends which is driven by our strong passion ad committment to reach out to the less fortunate!

2) What does your role as Biz Mags require you to do?
Our role mainly emcompasses planning and organising canvassing activities involving the whole CampOutReach Committee as well as proposing and securing sponsorships from corporations and organisations.
3) What have you all done to ensure keeping the costs low? How much have you all raised for COR 09?
Our canvassing activities mainly include liaising with distributors directly in order to cut down on middleman costs and also to scout for the best deals available around! (
4) Any challenges you all have met thus far and how did you overcome them?
The economy is real bad with financial woes and credit tightening and thus we are currently still not able to secure sponsorships from organisations.
However we will continue to work hard by approaching more organisations for sponsorships and at the same time, plan more canvassing activities to meet our fund canvassing target set beforehand.
5) Any exciting canvassing opportunities coming up that we as participants can contribute?
We will be setting up a stall in NTU on 4th and 11th Feb with conjunction with the upcoming Valentine's Day.
We do wish to have as much support as possible both for a good cause and also to share natural love, affection and warmth with ur beloved and closed ones.
6) What do you hope the participants can gain or achieve from COR 09?
We hope that everyone can make more new friends, have lots and lots and fun and also a memorable COR 09 trip!!!
Lastly, we think we are a very fun-loving, adventure-seeking, outgoing and friendly lot of people!!
Needless to say, we represent the pillars and strength of COR 09 committee. =)
