COR’12 BBQ: WE-WANT-FOOD OUTING :D

BBQ sessions often top the list when it comes to AWESOMEFOOD + SOCIALIZING. Unarguably, COR’12 is full of gluttons who are game for aBBQ evening at Pasir Ris Park!

We wouldn’t say that it was the perfect weather for a BBQbut we still managed to get the charcoals to glow amber and crackle despitethe strong onshore wind. The main highlights were: to ‘peng’ (BBQ) andeat! The logistics managed to convince the group that certain food were in fact‘barbeque-able’, which included crusted chicken thighs, drumlets and nuggets!*DROOLS*

COR Bubble Tea 2011

Still remember the all-familiarposter that seemed to be on every lift?

2^nd and3^rd November marks COR12’s first ever bubble tea canvassing sales inNTU.

And to tell you the truth, we were initially prettyskeptical about the turnout and response from the college population. What sortof pricing strategy should we adopt? What sort of publicity methods should weuse? Would there even be enough people to even make a profit?

After numerous weeks of intensive planning, together withour publicity team working hard to come out with posters, and the logisticsworking behind the scenes, we are proud to present to you, COR BBT 2011.

To start it off, we were really fortunate to have Eskimo,IGave, Seventeen, Jewels and Kimage as our proud sponsors for the event.

COR'12 FIRST EVER OUTING :D

COR'12 FIRST EVER outing on 9th Oct 11!

Initially, everyone was worrying about the weather as it has been raining for the past 3 days! But luckily for us the sun was out and it was all sunny and bright! :D

After gathering at the MRT station and frantically chasing after the bus,
We finally reached MARINA BARRAGE!

It started off with introductions from everyone! :D

Some of us flew kites!

(or rather, took photos with cute kites)

We then bid our goodbyes! Nonetheless, it was a fun and enjoyable day! From discovering talents (contact juggling,dancing,frisbee) to getting to know each other better!

We hope that everyone has enjoyed this outing as much as we did!

Definitely looking forward to the next outing!

Volunteer Orientation Camp 2011 (VOC 2011) - A Great Start to Our COR'12 Journey!

This year's VOC was held from 27-28 September 2011, which was right smack in the middle of recess week. While other people were stuck at home studying, or back in school having extra classes, COR'12 was having fun at Aloha Loyang Resorts!! (yay us! :D) For those who didn't manage to join us for the camp, or for those who did come but were stoning/spacing out half the time, here's a short recap of what you may have missed!

P.S Disclaimer! Do note that this was written from your (very tired) PnP member's point of view, I tried my best to recall and write about what happened to the best of my ability!

P.P.S I confess: I was one of the people zoning/spacing out most of the time! :P (Don't judge!)

Day 1

Day 1 of VOC started out bright and early. At about 8.30am in the morning, Pasir Ris MRT was a sea of colour as the groups gathered outside the station, each clad in their respective coloured T-shirts. The brightest and easiest colour to spot would definitely be yellow, which was the colour assigned to COR! Everyone gamely turned up in yellow t-shirts and presented a united front to the other groups, despite some COR members having different interpretations of the right/exact shade of yellow! (In our defence, it was very difficult to find a 'yellow' yellow shirt ok!)

We then made our way down to Aloha Loyang, and kept our belongings, before heading out for the first activity. While waiting for the programmers and VOC chairperson to get ready, we introduced and learnt each other's sign names, which were all very interesting and suited our personalities very well! This was followed by a 'test' of our memories, when we played 'Concentration' using our new sign names! Even though we all tried our best, I think we were all too tired or couldn't remember the signs, because we kept messing up the game! As a result, our 'lovely' CGLs, decided to start having forfeits! (Many thanks to MARCUS, who GENEROUSLY donated a MARKER for the forfeits!)

We definitely became much more alert and careful during the games that followed!

After the VOC chairperson's opening speech, the camp officially started!! Before the actual camp activity started, we managed to play more games, as well as learn cheers! After that day, I think whenever I mention VOC COR cheers, everyone will automatically think of Marcus and his very 'dynamite' cheering skills!! :D Credits go to the CGLs for coming up with such cute cheers, the lyrics were all very funny and easy to remember! But it took us quite some time to master the cheers because everyone was laughing too hard at Marcus!! "NO, STOP, WAIT A MINUTE!"

We also played many camp games such as the '洗牛奶/Xi Niu Nai' game, 'Give Me Tempo Ready Go/请你跟我这样作/Qing Ni Gen Wo Zhe Yang Zuo' and the very-popular MRT game! After playing so many games, there are sure to be forfeits right? After all, isn't that why we play those games? There were a few '老鼠屎/lao shu shi' who very sportingly carried out their forfeits, much to the amusement of the other members!

There was also the one and only Ding Zhi who came up with very... 'interesting' ways to avoid getting forfeited!

Unfortunately, even his fengshui was no match for COR'12, who were even more eager to get him forfeited after that! And what COR'12 wants, what COR'12 gets!!

The fun continued during our very first camp activity, which was '180 Seconds No NG'. In this game, we had to complete a series of tasks in 180 seconds, without any mistakes - AT ALL. Once there was a mistake during any stage of the game, the whole group had to restart the game. After several tries, COR managed to:

toss and catch the ping-pong balls,

slide the coins,

memorize the poker cards,

pick up the green beans dizzily,

and eat the Cheezels un-glam-ly!

Through this game, it was evident that our teamwork and enthusiasm needed no NGs!

Later on, all of us participated in the programmers' unique 'Online Shopping' experience. Our teamwork and coordination was put to the test again as we navigated the web of raffia strings in order to find the items required, and at the lowest possible price too!

During this game, all the inner 'aunties' and 'uncles' of COR'12 were unleashed! Judging by our performance and 'auntie-ness', hopefully COR'12 will be able to go overseas and camp for longer, or for less money!!

Two words: 爱/Ai. 演/Yan.

The 'Scissors Paper Stone Chair game': The game that unleashed the fury of 老板娘/Lady Boss!!! Also the game where we realised how violent an innocent game like 'Scissors Paper Stone' can get! Also where COR members sustained 'battle' scars and injuries in the name of the game!!

The very violent 'Grab the clips' game: I think we really scared off the other team in this game! haha COR guys=power, but COR girls=damn FIERCE man!

But all of us must already be getting old, secretly damn tired after this game right??

'Bomberman' game: okay, i forgot what this game was called. but basically it was a game of luck and... I guess we weren't that lucky that day? :S

The day ended with the excitement-inducing Dinner Hop, where we ate the best 'camp' food ever! Solving clues and completing tasks, while being able to eat delicious food from around Singapore, what more could we ask for?

After gorging ourselves with food and laughter, we headed back to the resort, where the night did not end just yet! Preparations had to be made for our upcoming performance the next day (or later that day). After some discussion and hilarious ideas, we finally came up with a musical theme for our performance, showing how people from all over the world became united and came together to form COR. (I think. Hehe!) It was sure to be an entertaining performance, but perhaps a little bit too self-entertaining than the others!

We were also given a very (x 148378947) fun and interesting song-signing lesson by none other than Siok Wen Lao Shi! :) Amazing us with her advanced and ultra-pro signing, as well as teaching us patiently how to sign 'Reach Out For The Skies', it's no wonder she is our chief (interpreter)!! I'm pretty sure everyone had a lot of fun learning how to sign the song for our performance the next day!

Day 2

After breakfast, we proceeded straight to the dirty games!

Things kicked off with a tame start, as the first game required us to roll through puddles of soapy water and find and match photos to the names of RSPHI and COR seniors. With the help of our seniors, we were able to complete this game without much difficulty.

The next game was more challenging, as we had to dig and find water bombs buried in the sand, and hit our opponents before we got hit ourselves! It was a mad dash all the way - rushing through certain actions/tasks before we could start digging (my personal favourite was the hyper-speed version of the chicken dance! LOL!), then rushing to dig out the water bomb without stepping on and bursting the hidden ones, then rushing to take out our opponents or ducking to avoid their bombs! I think the undisputed MVP of this game would have to be 老板娘/Lady Boss, who achieved a perfect All-Kill every time she entered the game area! Impressive!! 老板娘就是不一样/Lao Ban Niang Jiu Shi Bu Yi Yang!! It was also during this game that the 'LAST WARNING' cheer was created, livening up the atmosphere greatly.

After the heart-pumping action of that game, we then moved on to the game of 'Dirty Twister', also known as the game of the long-limbed people. (cough..Wilfred..cough) The only Twister game in history where the colours of the spots changed colours as the game progressed - due to people 'blending' the colours together by stepping in and out of different plates of colours. We also witnessed the creation of colours never before known to us, such as Curry-Sauce-Brown, and Soya-Sauce-Black! A very 'tasty' and 'colourful' game, indeed!

The last game was the 'Police, Tiger, Machine-gun' game, which was basically a variation of 'Scissors, Paper, Stone'. The losing team had to run towards a set of 'shields' behind them, before the winning team got to them with cups of water and water guns. Not the most exciting of games overall, but we did get a good shock (although it was a bit delayed) whenever we realised that we had to run for cover. However, it was quite entertaining to see 老板/Boss being chased around to avoid being dunked with a pail of water at the end!! LOL! Rare chance to see 老板/Boss being bossed around! :P

After the dirty games, we washed up and plunged straight into the next game, which was like 'Running Man'. (Sorry, I forgot the actual name of the game!) Basically, all particpants were spilt into 2 large groups, the chasers and the runners. The runners' objective was to find a hidden person around the beach area, and safely transport that person to a safe house. The chasers had to try to catch and 'imprison' as many runners as they could, before they could find and bring their head to safety, by grabbing the cloth strips attached to the runners' backs. Upon being caught, runners had to perform forfeits in the 'jail'. We started playing this game enthusiastically at first, eager to try out the techniques that our resident 'ninja' Gui Ju taught us to hide from and then catch the runners!

However, after running after and catching a few people, most of us were too tired to keep playing at that level of enthusiasm and intensity. (because we are _ _ _ already!) By the time it was our turn to be the runners, I think some people were too tired to put up any resistance.

Forfeit!

The chasers for the second round evidently felt the same way, and some even sat down to have a rest with us just before the game ended! After all, our 老板, Jenson, had been safely and swiftly rescued, thanks to the sharp eyes and quick action of our members.

Despite everyone being tired out by the game, we still gave our best shot during the performance that followed. After watching the other groups' carefully planned and elaborate skits, we wondered if our performance would be too 'different'! Our opening act was top-notch quality, a harmoniously sweet a capella rendition of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". Alyssa, Eileen, Xian Hui and Xinyi's solid performance wowed the crowd and transported us into a dreamy jungle environment. This 'jungle' then parted to reveal a mountain, which Dawn, Gui Ju, Wilfred, Lok Yin and Jie Min proceeded to climb and conquer! Their high-spirited performances left us all breathless...with laughter, as they comically hiked up their fictitious mountain to the tune of "She'll Be Coming Round The Mountain". Then, we plunged into the depths of the ocean with Alicia, Stephanie, Willy and Yin Suen, as they transformed into lovely and graceful mermaids/merman. Their captivating 'fan dance' had us all swaying and singing along to the song "Under The Sea". Land ahoy! We next emerged from the sea and reached the fascinating and modern city, where we met the 4 most charming ladies you have ever known! Ding Zhi, Zhixiang, Shuwei and Marcus stunned us by giving a (much too)convincing performance of "Barbie Girl", complete with song, dance, and flirty/dirty/perverted looks! The 'R-rated' moment where they took off their 'trash'-y skirts was almost too much to handle - how to laugh and breathe at the same time??? However, we quickly calmed ourselves down and united together to sign the "Reach Out For The Skies" song, which was the highlight of our performance. It was an inspiring way to end, which ultimately embodied the true spirit of COR - to push our limits and stretch our horizons by reaching for the skies.

The performance thus ended the 2D1N VOC camp. Though it was short, we managed to squeeze in a whole lot of fun and good times in that period, as well as grew closer to our fellow COR members. (although we may have alienated the other RSPHI groups - especially RSPHI Kallang! :P) All in all, it was a short but sweet camp that was a great start for our COR journey and friendships! Looking back at the pictures and writing this post relieved some great memories for me, and I hope it has for you too! COR'12 LOVE! <3

DAY 1

Whatmakes the experiences more unique was that, all these activities were done in 10+◦Caircon-like temperature!

DAY 3

Afterbeing greeted by the fog early in the morning, it’s time to stretch ourselvesfor a day of adventure!

Firstup, Razorback Trekking up the summit Pinhatt Mountain!

Nextup, team building games and the challenging rope course (Zip Lining, MonkeyBridge, Leap of Faith)!

Ourdinner was made sumptuous with the ever-so-popular fried egg!

After the meals,night walk was cancelled because of the rain. However, the camp spirit remainedhigh!! Many had used the rainwater to shampoo their hair and we even opened ourvery own COR Club! The idea of the club was inspired by the group hugs to keepourselves warm!

DAY 4

It’s time to bidgoodbye to the scenic view and fantastic air-con temperature!

This also mean we’llbe having our last breakfast meal, our last group shot, our last ferry ride andour last look at Tuyen Lam campsite.

Back at Ho Chi Minh,it’s time to check in to Hoang Hai Long Dragon Hotel! It’s time to adjust backto the urban life and start our APPRECIATION NIGHT!

Kwee Fang’s PoiPerformance with LED light and the volunteer’s musical with song sign and danceperformance were splendid! And the HI’s pokemon performance was totallyhilarious! Kudos!

The mood then turned slightly emotional when the HI andvolunteers sharing sessions began. It was indeed a heart-warming session! Ofcourse, a twist of event occurred and it ended off with what most of you hadexpected… TAUPOK!!

DAY 5

Time flies, especiallywhen you are staying in the hotel! It was time to check-out and continue withour last 2 activities in COR’11!

First was the visit tothe Hy Vong School for the Hearing Impaired and Intellectually Disabled. In theschool, we got to learn the Vietnamese Sign Language from one of the teachers.It created an amazing scene of 4 languages (SEE sign language, English,Vietnamese, Vietnamese Sign Language) and 3 interpretations used to communicateideas from the Vietnamese sign language teacher to the participants and viceversa. At the end, we presented the gifts prepared by the participants to theschool’s principal in hope that the gifts will be beneficial to the students.

We then had our lastCOR’11 meal at LION Brewery and Restaurant followed by shopping at the famousBen Thanh Market! Coffee, shirts, bags… … you name it, they have it!! Thisplace poses another opportunity to go “Beyond Self”! It’s time for theparticipants to unleash their aunty/uncle’s side of them! Bargain or let yourwallet down!!!

COURAGE AND EXPERIENCES!

The COR’11 camp spirit would not have been thesame without each and every one of you. Thanks for joining COR’11 and I do hopethat these 5 days of camp had allowed you to forge more friendships, create newexperiences and also challenge you to go “Beyond Self”!

And also special thanks to the 6 facilitators: Stephanie, Adrian, KahWai, Baosong, Yanting and Jasper who joined the volunteer’s team in May.Without your effort and help, I’m sure the camp would not have run as smoothly.And definitely, we’ll hear less crazy laughter!

Last but not least, a BIGGGGG thank you to the 26 special individuals in the COR’11organizing committee. On 23 September 2010, which is also our 1^stmeeting, nobody knows exactly where COR’11 will be heading to. Taking flightwas merely just a vision and no one was sure if we could be the first batch ofCOR to bring 50 over participants up on flight. The Program Directors were frantically coming up with alternativeprograms if flight falls through and the Business Managers were stressed up by justthe look at the canvassing targets! However, with all of your trust and believein one another and also your relentless effort in participating in every singlecanvassing (even the occasional paid surveys which sometimes yield little profit),WE’VE MADE IT!

TO A COUNTRY WHICH COR HAS NEVER VENTURED TOBEFORE!

YOU’VE MADE IT HAPPENED!

Though the journey may be tough at times, I hopethis is a good learning journey as well as fulfilling experience for all ofyou. Take a short time off your stoning sessions to reflect on the things thathappened in the passed 1 year. There are simply too many significant events tostate: DCCL, BS1, BS2, VOC, COR’11 photoshoot, sentosa & botanic gardenoutings with the HI, Garung Guni, Kukup committee outing, Recce trip, Meet& Greet, Pre-Camp.. .. Regardless ofscale and level of significance of each event, I hope there are things you cantake-away from each of them. And afterCOR’11, our respective learning & volunteering journey continues… but indifferent paths this time. Do keep in contact. Stay tune for Jason’s thank youmessage =)

Hello everyone!Last Saturday, we had our annual Meet and Greet session at SADEAF!

Interesting signnames started coming out, like Xi Zi's kangaroo, QuanYi's rabbit, Alicia's pig!Oh, wait! Is COR breeding animals? (Alicia: don’t worry, we are very friendlyanimals, won’t bite!)

We also haveKweeFang's fire dance "K" and "F"! Yes, KweeFang performsfire dance! Spectacular right! I would love to see her perform!

There's alsoMervyn's "dive", and Luthfi's "climb"!
Yep, so as you may have guessed, Mervyn's a diver back in his National Servicedays, and Luthfi loves activities like mountain climbing!

There's a lotmore interesting sign names from our committee members, but let's move on toother stuff, cause this might a day to finish! (Psst: come join COR if youreally wanna meet these interesting people!)

About Camp Outreach
Camp Outreach (COR) is an annual project organised by student volunteers of Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The aim of COR is to increase exposure and empowerment of the Hearing Impaired (HI) community through a unique overseas camp planned specially for you. Unlike any other camp, COR camp includes challenging adventures, cultural and community involvement activities. This year, we hope to bring these experiences to you with our theme: Beyond Borders, Beyond Self!

During the camp, each HI will be paired up with a NTU volunteer who has knowledge of sign language. Hence, joining the camp would also mean you'll get to know more friends!!

Annual Karang Guni Canvassing! Huat ah!

The beginning of the year is usually marked with crazycelebrations, thinking of New Year resolutions and…arghz….spring cleaning…It’sthe time of the year when people will want to throw out all the old newspapersand used clothes stacked up in their houses somewhere. So on the 9^thJanuary 2010, for some residents of Bishan, Camp Out Reach and RSPHI Committeemembers are there to give them a hand.

Just a SMALL amount of what we have collected! Haha!

That’s right!!! It’s the annual joint Karang Guni conductedby COR and RSPHI as part of their individual canvassing efforts. In otherwords, the profits we earn from this Karang Guni will serve to subsidise aportion of the fees for the upcoming participants of COR’11!!!

Most importantly, this is another good opportunity to get tosee new faces and to know more people. We were split into 8 groups, eachcomprising a mix of members from the various RSPHI centres and COR. For some ofthe more fortunate groups, we are privileged to have some of our HI friends tocome down and help us with the Karang Guni. Yay! Extra Manpower!!!

Initially, we did door-to-door flyer distribution on the 2^ndJanuary to inform the residents of our upcoming Karang Guni session. Subsequently, on the 9^th January 2010, we had theactual Karang Guni.

Most of the residents were generous to contribute to ourcause and left us whatever they could. Even though there were some hiccupsalong the way, such as other unlicensed Karang Guni men going around to “snatchour business”, we still managed to collect quite a number of things.

Although we had to constantly climb up and down the HDBbuildings and carry a lot of heavy items, we were very positive andenthusiastic and didn’t let our fatigue drag us down.

At the end of the day, when we all gathered under the voiddeck of a HDB flat for a short debrief, there were a lot of satisfaction andrelief and everyone had smiles on their faces. We were all very excited thatthis year’s Karang Guni was much faster and successful than the previousyear’s.

Our whole Karang Guni Team! Good job everyone!!!

A very good job done by all the participants and not tomention the Business Managers, who have spent so much effort coordinating andorganising this event such that it ran so smoothly. Kudos to everyone!!!

Jason, with a big smile on his face, very happy with our results! Plus WenJie (who looks very tired) but terping for all of us!

We ended off this fruitful day by having dinner at ManhattanFish House in Junction 8!!!

But if you think money was the only thing we got from thisevent, you are wrong!!!
Everyone forged new friendships and learned more about the members from otherportfolios within Welfare Services Club and some groups even got together oneweek later to have dinner outings! We may have only seen each other and workedwith each other for 2 days but the experiences and fun time that we had bondedall of us even more.

So do watch out for future events and come join us!!!

Guess what time it is? It’s COR outing time!!!

Yay! On the 8^th January 2010, COR had apicnic/games day over at the Botanic Gardens. (When was the last time that weeven set foot in the Botanic Gardens? Haha)

We first gathered at Orchard MRT station, all of us carryingthe food that we are contributing to this Potluck style picnic!!!

Enjoying the food that we brought later in the day, after the Phoro Huntgame. (Why is there CNY Goodies in the middle?!)

Even though the weather looked dangerously cloudy andslightly rainy in the morning, it all cleared up just in time for us as wetravelled together to the Botanic Gardens by bus behind ION.

When we arrived, De Jun and Eileen (2 of our CGLs) gatheredus to explain the game that we were going to play. It’s called “Photo-Hunt” andbasically, it took us around to different landmarks within some parts of theBotanic Gardens and we were expected to find these places and take funny photosas a group there!!!

And so, with 2 teams competing to finish first, we startedthe game.

Along the way, the participants tried putting theirnavigation skills to the test and we searched high and low for the places wherewe were supposed to take photos. All the while, we were also enjoying eachothers’ companies and reminiscing the old days when we were in Botanic Gardens.Most people mentioned that the last time they were here was when they werelittle children so it was rather refreshing to see everything again, so familiaryet so distant…

We were supposed to do a combination of happy, angry, sad andexcited/ecstatic expressions in front of the National Orchid Garden.

We visited various places, such as the plot of Vanda MissJoaquim (Our National flower), the Swan Lake, the front of National OrchidGarden, a cave near the Ginger Garden and a pavilion within the Rainforestarea.

At the end of the day, we all gathered back at the place westarted to enjoy the food that we brought and to play games.

Time flies and fun times pass quickly. Before long, we weredone with the afternoon and trying to get out before it started to rain!!! Ithad been a really enjoyable day and some of us decided to go to Far East Plazato have dinner so we finally left Botanic Gardens!!!

Not everyone managed to make it but we still had a greattime!

We apologise for picking a date where many people couldn’tmake it for the outing but now that you guys have seen the fun that we had,remind yourself that you MUST MUST come to our next COR outing okay,everybody?!

RSPHI-VOC'10 Reminiscence!!!

Hello everyone!!!

I’m sure everyone had their fair share of fun at the recent Welfare Services Club Volunteer Orientation Camp and RSPHI (cum COR) Volunteer Orientation Camp (VOC) =)

Even though we only spent about 1-2 days with one another, I feel that we have really learnt more about each other and bonded so much more. Here’s a recap to the activities that transpired over the 2 days in camp. So people who went for the camp, reminisce! And people who missed it, here’s to keep you in the loop.

18th Oct 2010 – Still in NTU

Fresh out of WSC-VOC and dinner, we were all gathered in the HSS building, playing ice breaker games and coming up with sign names for everyone in the committee!!! And now we have a wide array and huge diversity of sign names, even though it’s largely targeted at exposing the ‘unglam’ side of us and exposing the embarrassing things we’ve done. =x.

We have the Animal Farm, right, Alicia, Xizi and Quan Yi? (can still imagine Quan Yi calling Xizi a ‘kangaroo caught in the spot light’ or whatever haha)

We also have the cool cool ones like Kwee Fang, who initially wanted to do the ‘hand twisting’ thing that no one else can do!!! We ended up simplifying her sign name to ‘perform’ with her initials and having the knowledge that Kwee Fang does FIRE-DANCING. WOW!!!

Then and again, we are always comforted and reassured by some of the old sign names. *hint aim dejun hint*

After a brief opening speech, we set off on our bus ride to Aloha Loyang, playing several stupid games on the bus, right Lady Gaga? =p

18th Oct 2010 – At Aloha Loyang Chalet 13

Our first task after we settled into our chalets is to paint our identity flag, which we’re going to carry around everywhere the next day. Eventually, it’s been decided that we should just draw our simple orange ‘COR’ logo. And it really looks kind of amazing, so good job to the people who helped out with the drawing and painting!!!

It’s reaching midnight but the night is still young and we’ve still got our meeting ahead of us!

But before that, we launched a surprise birthday celebration for Mervyn, who looked a bit stunned when we started singing a birthday song for him. Our first birthday celebration within COR’11!!!

Sparing the details of the meeting, we ended off our night with Chief Terp, Wen Jie, leading the seniors to introduce and teach us song signing. We did the song, “Stay The Same” by Joey Mcintyre and while some of us were overwhelmed and having difficulties with the signs, I’m sure all of us enjoyed song signing and Wen Jie assured us there’s more to come. SO look forward to it, everybody!!! =)

19th Oct 2010 – Aloha Loyang Chalet

Time: ~7.45a.m

Objective: To annoy and wake up the COR’11. (haha)

Action: 4 crazy and sleep-deprived CGLs cheering Dynamite cheer in front of the COR bedrooms

Conclusion: Many Grumpy COR folks waking up for 2nd day of VOC!!!

After breakfast, we gathered to teach COR the cheers that the CGLs came up with and everyone was so hyped up and enthusiastic about it so everyone managed to learn it quickly. And we’re SPECIAL because we’re using cheers that no other groups are using. (even though many people suspected that our cheers are a little too… …aggressive. =p Just bring it…)

We broke off for our individual station games and we played different games like Police, Tiger, Machine Gun where we rocked!!! It was pretty amusing to see everyone huddled around Luthfi, waiting for him to come up with the order of our signs, worshipping him for our success.

And in between Charades and Family Day, the next 2 station games, Eunice and JieXin, being overly obsessed with Youtube’s Annoying Orange series, suggested that our group mimic Annoying Orange and annoy our poor friends from RSPHI Clementi. Even though Clementi probably didn’t understand what the heck was going on and couldn’t be bothered with us, I think we all enjoyed being lame and had a good laugh.

A cloudy day that was threatening to rain loomed over us while we ate sinfully tasty Nasi Lemak back in our chalet. Subsequently, we introduced ourselves to Joey and we played some Concentration games using our sign names while waiting for the next part of camp to start. Quan Yi still looks a bit troubled when he had to explain to Joey how his Mr. Rabbit sign name came about. Haha.

Everyone went crazy at our first Dirty Game, “5 minutes no NG”. Kudos to all of us, who all did the various tasks like pouring water over our backs, rolling on a plastic sheet filled with detergent and water, getting our faces full of flour trying to get some Mentos and so on. But the real fun began when people started splashing water onto everyone and for a while, it seemed like nobody was paying attention to the games! We ended up having to refill the buckets of water that we wasted splashing onto everyone at the end of the game. Haha (Thanks Mang Yew and Quan Yi for carrying the heavy pails of water!!!)

Next, we played our Mass game, where we spread out across the field to collect items we are later going to use to decorate our mascot with and to collect more ammo for our water bombs war game!!! Ming Wei tried to get us to form a defence line to protect our cardboard from being damaged but to be honest, our cardboard became cui in a matter of minutes… -_-

But NEVER MIND. That just means that all of us are allowed to go crazy and run to other groups and throw water bombs at them and some, among ourselves. (Poor De Jun haha).

While clearing up, we saw Aloysius!!! And Jason introduced the man in all the COR promotional videos and the COR freshies made a quick round of introduction of ourselves before we went back for the final segment of the camp.

For the final part, we had to dress up a mascot with the resources we gathered earlier and incorporate COR themes into our design. In the end, our COR mascot has some fancy warrior stuff like a newspaper-made sword, cape etc. Amidst strong competition, like Woodlands Woodpecker (lmao) and Farra-gou, we still managed to land in top 3 and we got a big bag of tidbits, which we shall open up and share on Sunday and that’s the end of VOC camp!!!

Like I said, it’s been a short period of time but we had loads of fun!

Definitely a great way to start off COR’11 =)

Hello all! FINALLY the official Camp OutReach blog is revamped! Along with this face-lift, the new changes include:

1) COR'11 Motto: BEYOND BORDERS, BEYOND SELF!

This year's motto continues to bring out the spirit of COR, to challenge ourselves BEYOND the BORDERS of our comfort zone and BEYOND the limits of oneSELF! The committee is still looking at the possibility of bringing COR'11 to somewhere further, where we can take flight in a plane to reach our destination.. If this dream can be realised in the end, we would really be going beyond new, untouched borders!! :)

2 years of COR passed in a blink of an eye. I could still remember my very first Camp OutReach-COR’09. It seemed only yesterday that I was planting mangrove along the coast of Bintan, deriving happiness from the planning of Cluedo Night for COR’09. Every time when the memories of COR’09 come to my mind, I would always recalled the words “ now that COR has ended, I do feel a bit of pity and longing-ness” (translated from Chinese).

Time warped to present day and COR’10. I was jittery at first, helming COR’10. As time passed by, I’ve gained senses of solace and achievements, watching the planning of COR’10 developed, observing the committee members mature and grew closer to one another, seeing HI friends getting more and more enthusiastic about the onset of the camp. I do no longer feel the burden of responsibility, for I realize I was doing everything for a worthwhile reason- to create memories and to strengthen the bonds between HIs and NTU students, more importantly, to inspire and spur HI friends and NTU volunteers towards giving and participating actively for the society.

Behind every photo we took is part of a painting that colored the vibrancy of COR’10. Just casually browsing through the pictures on Facebook invokes memories of yesterdays. The capsize drills during kayaking, torn pants and sighs of relieves upon the arrival at the plunge pool of the waterfall trekking, forlorn faces watching small baby turtles making their survival bid into the sea and of course, the crazy group B “yum seng-ing” to almost everything.

Now that post camp has ended, it sort of concluded my journey in Camp OutReach. The start of every dusk signifies the dawn of a new day. With new committee of COR’11 being formed even as a typed away on my laptop, I can sense the new committee’s passion and desire to bring COR to greater heights.

My tour as the chairperson of COR’10 has been very enjoyable. I would like to thank my committee members and not forgetting, HI friends for making all this possible!

But before that, please read these instructions carefully!

Meeting place and time:

Date: 11th June

Time: 6:30 PM

Venue: Carpark outside SADEAF

Attire: Anything comfortable for travelling

Please do not be late! Bus will be leaving 7 PM!

If there's any problem, please let your respective GLs know.

When you reached, find your respective GLs first so that they can take your attendance and carry everything out smoothly ya! =D

Therefore, please download the grouping list and the Camp Booklet to know which group you are in and who is your GL and other important details before the camp starts. =)

IMPORTANT! Remember to bring your passport and check your passport validity, make sure it is at least 6 months from the date of departure to the expiry date. For people with motion sickness, please bring along your motion sickness pills and plastic bags as we will be travelling by bus for at least 6 hours.

COR'10 Pre-Camp

It was the day that the whole COR had been waiting and excited for. And it finally arrives on a bright Saturday morning at SADeaf on 29 May 10. YES THE PRECAMP IS HERE!!!!!

At 10am, the whole COR committee is every ready to present the biggest and most exciting event of their life in 2010 to the HI participants. Both anxiety and euphoria are present in the minds of each and every single COR member as they awaits the arrival of the participants of COR 2010.

At 1045, the participants start pouring in! Every COR member starts to direct the HI participants to their respective group and the group members welcome the participants with the widest smile and biggest hug ever!

Look at Group D (THE LUCKIEST GROUP), everyone starts to mingle together and that marks the beginning of the greatest group in COR!hahahahhaha

Look at our CGL Madeline and Cherie! They are trying very very hard to look cute!!! Hahahaha kudos to them!(That's part of the forfeit!)

After the brief introduction by the respective group, the briefing to COR’10 finally begins. Important details and instructions are given to the participants by our programmer.

Our ever ready Chief Terp conveying the message in sign language and showcasing her proficient signing skills at the same time!

After the briefing, it is finally our ICE BREAKER GAMES lead by the respective CGLs! With every ice breaker game comes a nasty forfeit!

Both Jiexin and Aloysius lose the game and thus they are here with Jason to do the chicken dance! PS: Jason volunteer to do it with them! WOAH!!!

Soon, lunch time was here. The respective groups then went for their respective lunches and also secretly thinking how to outwit and outlast the other groups in the EXCITING PRE CAMP GAMES after lunch!!!

The first game that started was the can game. Each group are supposed to use strings to shift cans from one side of the canteen to the other side of the canteen without touching them!! After which, they have to stack the cans on top of each other! The group who manage to stack it in the shortest possible time wins the game!!

HAHA! With their wide smiles, I guess you all can tell who won the game!(Group B)

Next come the game called 100s NO NG!! Each group are supposed to complete a series of tasks in 100s without any NG! The first station is to do 5 consecutive skips with the rope!

Look at Mang Yew group! Don’t they just look like cute rabbits! Hahahahahaha!

The last task they are supposed to finish is to move a piece of potato chip from their nose to the mouth without their hand touching it! Luckily for the groups, many of them manage to complete it in 2 tries!!

The third game of the day is an edited version of captain’s ball game, more suitably called the CGL ball game as the CGL have to hold basket for his group member to throw the ball in! Every group sure sweat it out in this game!!!

Last but not least, we reached the last game of the game called traffic lights!! Each group is supposed to travel around the perimeter of the basketball court using just chairs and complete task assigned at each station! WOAH JUST look at the crowd at the station!!!

All good things come to an end. And at 4 pm, the pre camp ended with lots of laughter, smiles and SWEAT from all the members! However not to worry, as this is just the pre camp and the REAL FUN HAD YET TO BEGUN!!!! *Evil smiles**

This indeed gave us an opportunity to get to know our Hearing Impaired friends better and interact with them. But surprisingly, everyone played as though as we had already know each other for very long time! =D I am sure COR'10 will be even better! Kudos everyone! It's a successful outing!

I wanted to take part in volunteerism, as i feel that we should give back to society in one way or the other. I heard alot about COR from my friends and found it very meaningful as this project invvolves interacting with the HI. This portfolio requires us to canvass for funds and source for sponsorships for the camp. Why or what interest you to join COR this year?
I was in search for something new and meaningful when I first joined NTU. No doubt that NTU has very diverse choices for extra curriculum activities, but WSC, in particular Camp OutReach has appeals that caught my attention.
Having attended and organised many different camps, I felt that COR is the most unique of all. Not only did I get to know my fellow committee members better, I get to make new friends. If one were to ask me what is the strongest draw of COR, my answer would be my desire to create such bonds of friendships among new and old participants of COR, as well as keeping the ties stronger between the existing connections of facilitators and participants.

Share with us your pass experience with COR if any.
COR’09 has been a roaring success. It has definitely brought wonderful memories to facilitators and participants. COR’09 has generated a huge hype in NTU and among our HI friends.
The road to COR’09 wasn’t easy. There were ups and downs, stressful moments as well as light hearted ones. I guess the reason why COR’09 was so unforgettable is because of the hard work we’ve put in, and seeing our year of effort turn into beautiful smiles of appreciation on everyone’s face. I am glad I have preserved through the whole planning process for COR because in the end, I realised that all the efforts were definitely worth it.

How do you think you can contribute to the COR this year?
As a chairperson, I would be giving the COR’10 committee new goals and direction to create a new experience for COR’10 participants. At the same time, I really hope that all participants of COR’10 would return from the camp and feel the satisfaction I felt from the previous COR’09.
I cannot guarantee that COR’10 would be a mind blowing one, but I can promise that the committee and I would put in our best efforts to our abilities. And hopefully, COR’10 will be the most unique one to come.

Why or what interest you to join COR this year?
Having been through the planning stage of COR'09, I realized that there's so much to learn from others and so much to give. I have been interacting with the Deaf since 2006 and COR is a special project to me. It isn't just about planning any ordinary camp, it is about stretching ourselves to the limit, overcoming all fears and most importantly, building everlasting friendships with the participants, as well as the committee members. Being the Vice-Chairperson, I hope to create another thrilling and wonderful journey for the HI friends :)

Share with us your past experience with COR.
I was the Programme Director for COR'09 and my first COR experience at Bintan left me with great memories and even till now, I miss the days spent with my dearest Group C gang! Certain things can't be expressed through words and I am really thankful that I was given a chance to be involved in this project!

How do you think you can contribute to COR this year?
Having planned numerous camps, I hope that my experience can be an asset to planning camps at a managerial level. I will try my best to make COR another resounding success by ensuring that things fall in place and of course, I hope to groom new leaders and pass on the COR Spirit and make an impact on everyone's life :)

Why or what interest you to join COR this year?
This is my second year in COR. After having gone through COR'09, I have to say the experience was a really special and unforgettable one. I made many new friends and I enjoyed interacting with my Hearing Impaired friends.
Hence, I decided to join COR'10 again as I hope to go through the planning process and the camp all over again! I'm sure it'll be a fulfilling experience. (:

What is the reason for choosing your portfolio?
I chose Financial Controller partly because I guess that it's kind of related to what I am studying. I can also gain experience in relation to handling money and all and also learn to be thicker-skinned when I ask people to pay money on time!3.

Share with us your past experience with COR.
We went to Bintan for COR'09 and went through several activities that I have not tried before such as sampan rowing and snorkeling. Trekking Gunung Bintan also put my perseverance to test because to me, it was a rather hard climb especially when trekking up the steep parts of the mountain.
I was the AGL of Group B and I had alot of fun with them throughout the entire camp! I felt that my signing improved quite alot after coming back from the camp too through communicating with the HIs. They are really patient in teaching me new hand signs.

How do you think you can contribute to COR this year?
Other than carrying out my portfolio duties, I would try to help my fellow members too as and when they need help. Also as a senior, I can help guide my friends who are new to COR along. (:

I joined COR 2008 as a participant and I enjoyed myself alot. Since then, I hope to join COR every year. My first experience in COR 2008 has left a very deep impact on me. Throughout the few days and nights with the HIs, i learnt alot from them. Not only did their teaching 'level up' my signing skills, their spirit to overcome any obstacles despite the hearing disability has wow-ed me.
So, I rejoined COR '10 to continue my journey with them! =))

What is the reason for choosing the portfolio?
Being Chief Terp is something which I always wanted to try out. Although it is a very stressful position (because my signing skills are not very good), but I am glad that I chose this portfolio because it will be a challenge for me! =))
I hope, by next year COR '10, my signing skills will be better! haha! I will do my best! =p

Share with us your past experience with COR if any.
I was a participant in COR '08, and i joined COR '09 too. This will be my third COR year! (sounds old!)
My buddy for COR '08 was Esther, who is very very very independent, whereas my buddy for COR '09 was Hui Furn, who is more reliant on me. So it was two very different kinda of experience. When partner with Esther, I wont have to worry much about her whereabouts. But for Hui Furn, I need to worry where was she, blahblah. Haha. Neverthless, I had so much fun with them! The most memorable thing during COR '08 was, our tent had LOTSA bugs. Spider, millipede, etc. OMG. Throughout the entire night, we didn't catch a wink at all. Because we were constantly worried about insects.
And the most unforgettable thing during COR '09 was, on the first day during sampan rowing, Hui Furn kept shaking the sampan and I kept screaming. I ended up with no voice on the first day of camp. -.-

How do you think you can contribute to the COR this year?
I will brush up on my signing skills and widen my vocab so as to be the "bridge" between our hearing impaired friends and the instructors/participants. And my side-job is to use my "craziness" to inject lotsa fun and laughter to ceate new SPARKS in COR '10!!! =))

Chief Group Leader

Name: Madeline Lim Keng Woon
Course: NIE/ Bachelor of Science

Questions:
Why or what interest you to join COR this year?
I joined COR as a participant in June 2009 and really learnt a lot from just that 4 days of experience. Although I have also interacted with the hearing impaired community previously, I felt that the 4 days was where I really learnt and enjoyed the most. Teaching tuition and living together was a totally different experience for me. Simple things like waking up or telling our buddy something is very different from what we do daily too. Also, COR’09 also allowed me to improve on my signing skills!(:
There were some participants in COR’09 who inspired me a lot. One of them is Ginny from C CUP!(: Although she is profound, she is able to lip-read and converse just like us. I remembered that she was really afraid during our snorkeling activity. However, she was very brave and went out to the open sea with the rest of the group to snorkel. She was determined to overcome her fear and this really inspired me a lot.

What is the reason for choosing this portfolio?
Although each and every one of us would have had the experience of being a group leader, I want to try out to be a group leader in an overseas trip. This is one thing that I have never tried before. Although I am still not very proficient in my signing, taking up this position will serve as a challenge to me to work on my signing and try to interact with everyone fluently.

Share with us your past experience with COR if any.
Although I had only joined COR as a participant in COR’09, it has left a very deep impression on me. On the 2nd day of camp, a group of 5 of us used the open shower at camp. It was really a very romantic experience as we had the opportunity of bathing under the stars! How many of us will get this experience in our lives? (:
Let me know if anyone of you want to join me in an open shower again this year ok? Haha!

How do you think you can contribute to COR this year?
I hope to bring my group to a higher level of MAD-ness and have lotsa fun!(:

Why or what interest you to join COR this year?
Basically I got interested in COR because of my dearest HI + RSPHI friends who described their COR experience to be so EXCITING + FUN + MEMORABLE! However, the idea of joining COR came only when Gladys, our current Chief Terp as well as the legendary unglam queen, asked me if I would like to join COR'10 this year!
Hence I volunteered into COR to experience the camp for myself as well as to create another BONDING and CRAZY experience for EVERYONE (including myself!)

What is the reason for choosing the portfolio?
I like to interact with people as well as have fun with them! Hence CGL is my choice! I am sure I'll have a great time with the participants and facilitators! Last but not least, CHIEF group leader sounds good isn't it?

How do you think you can contribute to the COR this year?
To contribute to the success of COR'10 to the best of my ability. This would definitely include creating a FUN and MEANINGFUL experience to ALL CORians'10! In addition, I heard news of potential COR'10 participants planning to form a COR tau pok team. I will serve to notify my fellow committee members of the possible threats! For new participants interested in joining COR, please reject their recruitment and consider forming an anti-tau pok team to protect your fellow committee members!

Actually my previous experience of my service learning project inspired me to join COR.
my prev proj was held tgt with an overseas organization to stage a series of performances for diabled youths who were musically inclined.The project made me realise the amount of satisfaction i could get from helping ppl so i decided to join COR.

What is the reason for choosing the portfolio?
My prev experience allowed me to possess skills which i thought will be most appropriately used in this portfolio hahaha.

Publicity and Publication Officer

Name: Tan Zhi Qi
Course: Chemistry and Biochemistry
Year of Study: 3

Questions:
Why or what interest you to join COR this year?
I have joined COR for past 2 years and had enjoyed the experience. I had always wanted to do my part to help the community and I think COR is one of the ways. In fact, I learnt a lot from the HI. They are very passionate and happy people and I guess their enthusiasm and optimism had influenced me.

What is the reason for choosing the portfolio?
I was initally appointed as the Media and Information Officier (MIO). However, I knew that I am not really competent in photograhy and video making so the decision of merging Media and Information officer with Publicity and Publication Officer (P n P) is a good idea as most of the job scopes overlap one another. Moreover, the current P n Ps are very competent to take over the job scopes of MIO.

Share with us your past experience with COR if any.
I was a P n P last year. I remembered it was a rather a struggle to produce the designs due to the unfamilarity with the software and not as artistically-inclined. However, I learnt a lot from my previous experience. It is a good learning process and I am in fact quite proud that people wore the shirt we designed and held the banner we designed when taking photos.

How do you think you can contribute to the COR this year?
It must be very contradicting that I am neither artistically-inclined nor good with all the IT stuff, but I am in P n P. I take this as a learning point and hopefully can pick up more skills from the process espeically photography skills. I think experience is my plus point as I had been a P n P before. Furthermore, the knowledge of sign language may be an additional advantage as well though it has become quite rusty.

Course: Communication Studies

Why or what interest you to join COR this year?
They say that the university years are the best years of your life. I want to make the most out of it not just by having loads of fun, but helping a good cause while at it.
Even though COR is a special project where everyone works towards making that one trip a year possible, it is the camaraderie among the members, the feeling of being in a huge but close-knit family, and the life lessons we can learn from our hearing-impaired friends, that makes COR so special and heartwarming.

What is the reason for choosing the portfolio?
Being a communications student, I thought it would be natural for me to assume a position where I am able to apply what I learnt in school. Also, I love designing, photography and writing.

None, this is my first year!

How do you think you can contribute to the COR this year?
As part of the PnP team, it is my job to promote COR. I believe this can be done by creating a strong and positive identity for COR, starting with our new logo, through the subsequent revamp of the website, and also our committee and camp tee-shirts.
With a solid identity, it will be easier to attract both sponsors and participants to our camp, and I hope that COR will grow bigger as a family.

28th and 29th marked the very start of our annual VOC. As usual, COR was also present! (:

There were also new groups which joined us this year – Sembawang and Toa Payoh. This is because RSPHI expanded and opened 2 more branches which are available for tuition. So if you guys have problems with your school work and do not know who to turn to, there are 4 centres for all of you to choose and register with – Clementi, Kallang, Sembawang and Toa Payoh! Of course, Farrago is the 5th centre that provides enrichment courses to the adult HIs at Kallang Sadeaf! No matter where you live, there will always be a centre

which is of convenience to you!
Now, back to VOC!
Day one was pre-camp for camp committee and seniors. Although the pace of precamp was slow, it was nice and fun as everybody was reminiscing about what happened during year 1 when we just entered and joined in the fun with everyone.
Now it was our turn to prepare and plan the camp for everyone instead. Though sometimes it was tough, the fun factor outweighed everything else.(:
Everyone was crowding around pails of water and tying water bombs together (the logistics team was supposed to fill up 3000 water bombs!). Oh gosh! Can you imagine how much we hate each other now? haha! But it was rather fun, tying the water bombs, and chatting with each other.
Our very first game is “Listen and follow me!” aka INITIATION NIGHT! Everyone, no matter how senior they are, have to be initiated all over again! They are first made to walk zig zag along the path in Pasir Ris Park to their destination. (PS: It is actually just a straight route!) Along the way, Aloysius disturb the blindfolded mices, i mean, blindfolded CORians with leaves and got them all screaming with their head off!

Finally, they reach their first obstacle which is a ‘spider web’. CORians are really very scary people! They literally destroy the web and the programmers have to beg them not to destroy it further! SO BETTER DUN MESS WITH THE CORIANS.

We are led on to climb through a big hole(it might seems small to most!) where the have to go down on all fours! Can you all guess where is this hole?! It is actually the hole below the BBQ pit!
Guess the guys faced a ‘bigger’ problem as compared to the girls…LOL!That's because....Our guys are strong and muscular!(: *whistles!*
They were then led around the stone table and made to climb up and down not once, but twice blindfolded! Dangerous task! But CORians makes it back to the solid ground very safely! All hail the CGLS!!!!!

And here comes the next game, LAST GROUP STANDING! This game literally bonds all CORians together!!! I bet many of us never feel so CLOSE before! We are packed so close together that even sardines are incomparable to us!!! Just look at the pictures! This game initially looks impossible as we wonder how such a small piece of cloth can accommodate so many of us!!!

As usual like camps, we all ended up wet with all the water bombs that we tied together the day before.

But everyone was still very happy!

Lastly, ended our camp with our very own COR Lantern Festival Celebration!
All thanks to the "Old People" we got to eat mooncakes! But~ with forfeit.....

Nevertheless, the camp ended with a "BANG"!

We are now TWO days away from the camp! It's time to start packing your items so you still have some time to make purchase for what you lack of.

1 x Day Backpack
Passport
5 sets of PT attire (t-shirts and shorts/berms)
1 Set Long Sleeves T-Shirt ( For Jungle Trekking)(optional)
1 Pair of Gloves ( For Jungle Trekking)(optional)
1 Pair of Long Track Pants (For Jungle Trekking) *Note you may want to bring extra track pants to protect your legs from insect bites at night.
Undergarments and socks (1 Per Day)
1 Pair of Slippers / Sandals
2 Bath Towels or “Quick Drying” Towel

Important Camp Matters

COR '09 is just around the corner! Are you all ready for it?

For those who have been to the pre-camp briefing last Saturday, you would have a better idea on what to expect and how to prepare yourselves for the camp! For those who could not turn up, here are some important information which you MUST READ! (your CGLs will keep you informed also!)

1. Meet 0700 HRS at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, 13th June 2009

Please take note that the meeting time has been changed to 7:ooAM sharp at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Please arrive earlier so that we can process the boarding pass together and brief everyone on filling the custom documents. We will NOT wait for late comers.

You can get to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal by taking Bus 35 from Bedok Bus Interchange. It is about 12 stops away from the ferry terminal.

2. Bring two bags along for the camp (One backpack and one other big bag!)

The big bag is to contain all the items listed in the Personal Item Checklist.

The backpack is important for Day 1 and Day 3. It will be used to pack Packing List #1 items and Packing List 2 items (refer to Programme Booklet).

As we are doing water activities, you are advised to waterproof your belongings by packing them into a big thrash bag before packing it into your bag.

3. Toiletries

On the first two days, we will be using temporary field toilets. Please include a bottle of body powder and some toilet papers(for two days)! Good to have a small bottle of hand sanitizer and some wet tissues as well.

4. COR '09 Camp T-Shirts

You will be given your camp t-shirts on the first day at the ferry terminal.

5. Track Pants

Please pack at least 1 track pants for mountain trekking. You may want to consider packing one more track pants as sleeping attire, to prevent any insect bites at night.

6. Gift Items for Bintan School Children

On Day 3, we will be visiting a local school to teach the children some basic English and sign language, follow by some games with them. If you have 1-2 simple English books with pictures and illustrations that you wish to give away, please bring along to the camp.

7. Bring two pairs of shoes!

Bring along a pair of unwanted shoes/water booties for water activities. Bring another pair that will give you sufficient friction or grip during mountain trekking and dry land activities.
